Liverpool owners FSG are set to appoint Benfica technical director Pedro Marques as part of a restructuring after Michael Edwards returns to the football club.

Edwards return to the Reds last month in the role of CEO Football for FSG. Where he will oversee day-to-day operations for Liverpool.UFABET 

As part of the rebuild, Edwards will oversee FSG’s desire to purchase a second football team. The American venture capital group is ready to enter the world of multi-club ownership to create a network.

Marques, who hails from Portugal will be hired by FSG themselves rather than Liverpool FC. And they will look to use his expertise in recruiting talent around the world.

Marques start his career at Sporting Lisbon in 2004. Working as a coach, analyzing their performance. and personnel recruitment. Before he move to Manchester City as a first team analyst six years later.

At the Etihad, he held the same position that. Julian Ward held at Liverpool before taking up the role at City Football Group. Where he was head coach and analyst.

Manchester City is one of CFG’s clubs, along with 11 other teams, along with Girona, New York City and Melbourne City.

The Athletic claims Marques’ experience in a variety of formats will be used to help FSG find and manage a second club.

After leaving City, Marques move to Benfica in 2018 and become technical director of the youth team. And then he was credit with playing a key role in the first team.
